2023 à 12:02, raoultrines a Are you proposing to bypass this XQuartz issue by not using XQuartz at all? I share your concern, this bug is open for more than two years.During the first year, I see a lot of people trying to provide evidences or to isolate the issue in different ways (some contributor provide code to help with the test), I see no one in the dev teams that take in account these contribution.Since one year, I see only people try to avoid issue by disabling acceleration parameter and change the way they launch the binary. I use open source software for a long and I never see a user community such engaged to help and so many no show of developers involved in a project.VincentEnvoyé de mon iPhoneLe 27 oct. ![]() The black background bug seems to be related in some as-yet-unknown way to the server-side compositing process, which is why some people are finding that it doesn't show up if you disable the render extension. With the extension the program can simply tell the X server "I want to draw these pixels in this colour with this amount of transparency" and the server does the compositing, which is a lot more efficient particularly when several different apps are all trying to write translucent layers that overlap. Without the extension if a program wants to draw a partially-transparent region on the screen it has to fetch the current contents of that region from the X server, calculate the composite colours for each pixel itself, and then send the resulting composite image back to the X server to be drawn on the screen. The "render extension" is an add-on to the standard X Windows protocol that optimizes various things including the case where apps want to draw pixels with alpha transparency. I also tried using :0 rather than $DISPLAY, but that also failed.Ĭould someone explain briefly (for non-specialists) what "enable_render_extension 0" actually does? It turns off something I imagine, but what exactly? Thank you.
